Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS)

Cirko Vertigo Academy, recognised in 2022 by the Italian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture as a higher education institution equivalent to a three-year degree in DAMS – Disciplines of Arts, Music and Performing Arts, is committed to the full implementation of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) principles.

Through its participation in the Erasmus+ Programme, the Academy aims to strengthen its international dimension, enhance educational quality, and actively contribute to the development of the European Education Area.

Participation in Erasmus+ Actions

Cirko Vertigo Academy promotes learning mobility for students and staff as a strategic instrument for quality enhancement and internationalisation.

The institution will:

  • Support student mobility for studies, enabling participation in academic activities such as coursework, examinations and thesis research;
  • Facilitate student mobility for traineeships, through structured agreements with artistic companies, theatres and cultural organisations operating in the field of live performance and social circus;
  • Promote staff mobility for teaching, encouraging the exchange of pedagogical methodologies and artistic practices within European higher education institutions;
  • Support staff mobility for training, fostering continuous professional development and the acquisition of innovative competencies;
  • Implement Blended Intensive Programmes, combining short-term physical mobility with virtual collaboration.

Particular attention is given to cooperation within European professional networks such as FEDEC (International Network for Professional Circus Education) and other recognised cultural and higher education institutions.

Key Action 1 – Learning Mobility of Individuals (KA131)

Cirko Vertigo Academy intends to strengthen strategic partnerships with European higher education institutions and cultural stakeholders to:

  • Promote contemporary circus and performing arts education;
  • Develop joint projects, research initiatives and educational innovation;
  • Address European priorities including sustainability, digital transformation, inclusion and gender equality;
  • Enhance employability and professional integration in the cultural and creative sectors.

The Academy aligns its institutional strategy with Erasmus+ priorities such as the Green Deal, Digital Transformation, Integration of Migrants, Sustainable Growth and Employment, and Governance and Human Development.

Key Action 3 – Support to Policy Development

Through participation in policy-oriented cooperation initiatives, Cirko Vertigo Academy seeks to contribute to the institutional recognition and structural development of contemporary circus and performing arts education within the European framework.

Institutional Strategy

Cirko Vertigo Academy’s participation in Erasmus+ is embedded in its broader institutional strategy, structured around three pillars:

  1. Internationalisation
    Strengthening structured European partnerships and increasing mobility opportunities for students and staff.
  2. Innovation and Modernisation
    Integrating digital technologies, blended learning models and innovative artistic methodologies into the educational framework.
  3. Communication and Dissemination
    Ensuring transparency, visibility and accessibility of Erasmus+ activities through the Academy’s official website and communication channels.

All actions are supported by principles of socio-economic sustainability and equal access to opportunities.

Strategic Objectives

The Academy has defined four measurable objectives:

  1. Improve Educational Quality
    Through exposure to diverse methodologies, international collaboration and innovative practices.
  2. Promote Internationalisation
    By increasing the number of partnerships and the diversity of the academic community.
  3. Facilitate Professional Placement and Staff Development
    By strengthening employability and professional competencies.
  4. Strengthen Institutional Partnerships at European Level
    Contributing actively to the European Education Area.

Expected Impact

Participation in Erasmus+ is expected to generate:

  • Improved educational quality and learning outcomes;
  • Professional growth of students and staff;
  • Increased international visibility and recognition;
  • Active contribution to the development of a cohesive European Education Area.

Monitoring and Indicators

Progress will be monitored through quantitative and qualitative indicators, including:

  • Increase in student academic performance following mobility;
  • Improvement in participant satisfaction rates;
  • Growth in the number of international partnerships;
  • Increase in staff participation in training and teaching exchanges;
  • Participation in European cooperation projects;
  • Strengthening of long-term strategic alliances.

Targets are defined in alignment with ECHE commitments and are periodically reviewed to ensure sustainability and continuous improvement.
