The Cirko Vertigo Academy’s new permanent headquarters is scheduled to open in April 2027 at the former Galliano Barracks. This program will house the Master’s Degree in Circus Arts (LM-65). This program will train artists and managers with transversal skills in the artistic, organizational, and technical fields. The former Citadel will be redeveloped thanks to the support of the City of Mondovì and other local stakeholders.
The establishment of this new training center is unique in Italy, the result of the Cirko Vertigo Academy’s constantly growing activities, which, with the new headquarters, find renewed momentum. While awaiting the new location, the 2023 academic year began in the multipurpose hall at the base of the funicular made available by the City of Mondovì, where masterclasses and both practical and theoretical lessons were held, some of which were also open to students of the DAMS of Turin, while the creations took place in the NICE tent set up in Piazzale Giardini.
The training project is supported by the MIC, the Piedmont Region, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, the CRT Foundation, the CRC Foundation, the City of Grugliasco, and the City of Mondovì, and is being implemented in collaboration with the blucinQue NICE National Production Center—under the artistic direction of Caterina Mochi Sismondi, founder of the blucinQue company, whose work represents a benchmark in the field of dance theater and contemporary circus in Italy—the DAMS of Turin, and the City of Turin.
Starting in 2023, the Cirko Vertigo Academy, following the recognition in 2022 of the equivalent three-year degree program in DAMS, officially opened its academic year in a new location, Mondovì, in the province of Cuneo, already a historic university site (the University of Mondovì was founded on December 8, 1560 by Emanuele Filiberto).
